Support Sustainable Skincare

Discover how we support sustainable skincare from sourcing to manufacturing to producing and packaging.

As a sustainable skincare company, we are committed to sourcing natural products that are healthy for your skin and our planet. That’s why all of our products are responsibly made and environmentally-friendly. You won’t find any plastic in our packaging or harsh chemicals in our skincare products.

In this post, we discuss the importance of supporting sustainable skincare and share some of the many ways we are committed to clean beauty

How Our Garments are Made

Our Remedywear garments are made with eco-friendly natural fabrics in a closed loop process. How does this support sustainability?

A closed-loop process means that all resources and byproducts can be reused or broken down. In turn, this reduces the amount of waste such as water pollution and even greenhouse gas emissions.

Remedywear™ garments are made in Portugal using at least 80% renewable energy, such as wind, hydroelectric, and thermal energy. Its main fiber is TENCELwhich is wood pulp that comes from renewable beech forests across Europe, mainly Germany. This process follows strict European forestry regulations.

The fabric is then embedded with anti-inflammatory zinc and a touch of recycled elastane is added to ensure the clothing fits like a second skin. In our socks, you’ll also find recycled polyester and organic cotton.

During the manufacturing process, all waste is collected and then used to produce ecological recycled yarn. This ensures that nothing is lost and our impact is as low as possible.

Finally, you can rest assured that our production process follows fair trade regulations so that safety protocols are met, excellent working conditions are standard, and employee benefits are observed throughout the entire production process.

Last but not least, Remedywear™ raw materials are STeP certified. STeP certification encourages fair social working conditions, health and safety, and long-term environmentally friendly production.

Our Sustainable Skincare Packaging

As we mentioned earlier, we use zero plastic in our Remedywear packaging. Instead, all products are shipped with cardboard boxes and kraft paper that we encourage you to reuse, when possible, or recycle at the end of their use. Even our hangtags are made from 100% recycled paper that is FCS certified. The Forest Stewardship Council is a not-for-profit global organization whose mission is to have “Forests For All Forever.”

Because our clothing is made with sensitive skin in mind, we use the bare minimum number of tags on our products. However, the tags you will find are made with 100% recycled cotton.

In terms of skincare, you can expect our Organic Manuka Skin Soothing Cream to arrive in 100% post consumer recycled plastic cosmetic jars. While this took a few years to develop, we are so excited to have reached this point and are thrilled to be taking one more step into creating a sustainable future.

How we Offset Carbon Emissions

One of our recent goals was to help offset the carbon emissions for producing our products. That’s why we formed a partnership with EcoCart to offer carbon neutral shipping to our customers. We are also pleased to say that because our product production begins and ends in Europe, our clothing does not travel great distances which helps lower carbon emissions too.

In short, you can rest assured that from sourcing to manufacturing to producing and packaging, we believe in the highest standard of ethical, sustainable, eco-friendly, and fair trade labor.
